Fig. 00 — A fractional tech department for UK small businesses

Enterprise-grade tech for your business — at a small-business monthly fee.

I'm Mark. I help UK small businesses look as polished online as the big players, then quietly tune the marketing in the background — A/B testing, ad-spend optimisation, automation — so the numbers improve month on month. One monthly fee. No setup cost.

I reply personally · within two working days

Fig. 02 — The whole online side

The whole online side of your business, handled.

No seven tabs open. No monthly round of tiny invoices. No learning seven admin panels. All of this — set up properly and looked after by one person.

  1. 01

An online home your clients find and trust.

Designed around your work — warm, readable, fast, accessible. Built to convert enquiries, not just look pretty.

  2. 02

A booking link that fits everywhere.

In your bio, on your door, at the bottom of an email. Clients pick a time, get a confirmation, get a reminder. No phone tag.

  3. 03

Professional email on your own domain.

Nobody taking @gmail bookings looks like a going concern. You get proper addresses on your domain, and I look after the admin.

  4. 04

    Consent forms, contracts, cancellation policies.

Digital, signed, stored. Templates ready to adapt to your line of work — or bring your own and I'll wire them up.

  5. 05

A newsletter, for when you've something to say.

Capture sign-ups from your pages. Send when it makes sense. Never because a platform told you to.

  6. 06

    Proper measurement, quietly.

So you know what's working. Privacy-friendly — no intrusive cookie banners, no selling visitor data, no tracking across the internet.

Fig. 03 — Honest cost comparison

The honest cost of stitching it together yourself.

Most new businesses discover this six months in, the hard way. Real UK 2026 prices — the tools you'd probably buy, what they cost, and how much of your time disappears.

Fig. 04 — How we begin

Three conversations, then it's running.

  1. i.

    We talk.

Quick call, or a form — whichever suits. You tell me what you do, who you serve, where you are. I come back within two working days with a proposal and a clear price.

  2. ii.

    I get it set up.

You answer a short set of questions and review drafts. I handle brand, pages, booking, email, e-signatures, analytics — the lot. Most clients are live within a fortnight.

  3. iii.

    I look after it.

You call or message me when you need anything. Updates, new pages, a new signature template, a tricky enquiry — all on one number. You just get on with your work.

Fig. 05 — The instrumentation

The scientific bit — quietly, in the background.

Most small businesses run their marketing on a hunch. We run yours like an enterprise IT department would — measured, tested, and optimised every month — without you having to think about it.

Spec 01 — Hypothesis & control

A/B test what works on your site.

Two versions of a headline. Two versions of a call-to-action. Whichever brings in more enquiries wins. We run the test, you read the result.

Spec 02 — Channel attribution

CAC tracking by channel.

What does it cost to get one new customer from Google Ads vs Facebook vs your local paper vs a referral? We measure each. Your ad budget moves to whichever channel actually pays its way.

Spec 03 — Reductive optimisation

Automated keyword optimisation.

Google Ads accounts have hundreds of keywords. Most don't pay back. We test in tight loops — pause the losers, double down on the winners — typically cutting ad spend 20–40% inside three months.

Spec 04 — Organic acquisition

Grow the free traffic that displaces paid clicks.

Per-city service pages, structured data, content that ranks for what your customers actually search. Every organic visitor is a paid click you didn't have to buy.

Spec 05 — Same discipline, different surface

Social spend, the same treatment.

Facebook and Instagram ad accounts are usually leaking the same way. We apply the same test-and-cut discipline. The point isn't more spend — it's less waste.

Spec 06 — Plain English

A monthly read-out, in plain English.

One email a month. What we tested, what won, what's next. No 40-page agency PDF nobody reads.

Fig. 06 — Why it doesn't cost what you'd expect

Shared infrastructure. Custom on top.

The reason small businesses can't normally afford enterprise tech is simple: agencies build it bespoke for one customer at a time, and charge accordingly. We don't.

Detail A

Bespoke build, single customer

£15,000+

What an agency would quote you for an after-hours AI booking agent, a vehicle-tracking app with customer ETA SMS, or a quote-to-invoice automation. One customer pays the whole bill.

Detail B

Built once. Shared across Workshop customers.

Wrapped into your monthly fee.

We build the automation library once. Every Mark's Workshop customer gets the lot. Your custom layer — your service area, your tone of voice, your pricing logic — sits on top. Same software, your business shape.

You get enterprise-grade tools without the enterprise-grade cheque. The trade-off: we choose the stack, so we can keep it lean. If you need something one-off and bespoke, we'll quote it separately and tell you honestly whether it makes sense.

Fig. 07 — Pricing

Three tiers. Honest pricing.

All tiers include the whole setup. The difference is how much of the ongoing content and strategy I handle for you.

Fig. 08 — Who's behind it

Twenty years in corporate IT. Now doing it for the small lot.

Most of my career was inside large UK organisations — running platforms, picking technology, building the kind of automation that quietly cuts millions off operating cost. The tools the FTSE-100 use are now cheap enough, and the AI models good enough, that a small business can run on the same stuff. The hard bit is putting it all together properly.

That's what Mark's Workshop is for. I look after a small handful of UK businesses end-to-end — Tailored Hypnotherapy, Edinburgh Skyline, and a growing line behind them — building shared infrastructure that every customer benefits from, plus a custom layer on top of each one.

I'm a father of three with a fourth on the way. I started this because I want to support good people running good small businesses, give them the kind of tooling that used to be reserved for big companies, and keep their costs honest. AI is at the front of how I do that — not as a buzzword, but because it's how a one-person operation can quietly look after a portfolio of clients to a very high standard.

Fig. 11 — Who we work with

UK small businesses of almost any shape.

Trade businesses (mobile mechanics, electricians, joiners). Therapists and counsellors. Coaches and hypnotherapists. Residents' groups and community organisations. Photographers, consultants, accountants, creatives. If I don't think I can help you, I'll tell you.

I deliberately keep the variety wide. Five therapy sites start to look the same; a therapy practice next to a tyre fitter next to a residents' group force every project to find its own voice. That makes every piece of work better — and the shared infrastructure underneath it stronger, because each new vertical teaches the platform something.

Geographically: anywhere in the UK. I work remotely with clients from Edinburgh to Cornwall; we use WhatsApp, email and the occasional video call. The work is the same wherever you are.
